Connecting Athletes with Sport-Specific Trainers

1. Introduction
TrainMe (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of parents, athletes, and trainers who use our mobile and web-based platform (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and your choices regarding your information.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide, improve, and personalize the Service:
Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, profile photo, date of birth.
User Profiles: Trainer qualifications (certifications, background-check status), parent and athlete profiles (age, skill level).Booking & Scheduling Data: Session dates, times, durations, locations.Location Data: If you enable location services, we collect precise geolocation data to help match you with nearby trainers, provide directions to training locations, and improve our mapping features. You can disable location services through your device settings. Location data is retained for 12 months unless you request earlier deletion.Payment Information: Billing address and payment method details (collected securely via Stripe Connect; we do not store raw card data).Device & Usage Data: IP address, device identifiers, operating system, browser type, pages visited, feature usage, crash reports, and log data.Communications: Support requests, emails, and in-app messages.Marketing Data: If you opt in, we may collect preferences, survey responses, and analytics for promotional purposes.3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
Provide & Operate the Service: Create and manage accounts, facilitate bookings and payments, display trainer profiles, and deliver in-app notifications.
Improve & Personalize: Analyze usage trends and preferences to optimize features (e.g., search rankings, recommended trainers using automated matching algorithms).Communicate: Send transactional messages (confirmation emails, reminders), respond to inquiries, and, with your consent, send marketing communications.Security & Compliance: Detect and prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with legal obligations.Analytics & Research: Understand how users interact with the Service and develop new features.Automated Decision Making: We use algorithms to match athletes with suitable trainers based on location, skill level, availability, and preferences. You can request a manual review of any automated matching decision by contacting support.4. Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
Service Providers: Third-party vendors (e.g., Stripe for payments; Firebase or AWS for hosting; analytics providers) under contract to help operate, analyze, or improve the Service.
Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect rights, property, or safety.Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets—we will notify you at least 30 days before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.Aggregated or De-identified Data: We may share non-identifiable usage statistics for research or marketing.5. Data Security & Breach Notification
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures (e.g., encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, secure development practices) to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Data Breaches: In the event of a security incident that affects your personal information, we will notify you within 72 hours via email and through the app, and will provide details about what information was involved and steps we’re taking to address the issue.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal data according to the following schedule:
Account Information: Until account deletion plus 30 days for processing
Booking History: 7 years for business and tax purposesPayment Information: As required by payment processors (typically 7 years)Communications: 3 years unless legal proceedings require longer retentionMarketing Data: Until you opt out or 5 years, whichever is soonerDevice/Usage Data: 2 years from collectionLocation Data: 12 months from collectionYou may request deletion of your account and data as described below; we will comply unless retention is required by law.7. Children’s Privacy
For Users Under 13: Our Service facilitates sports training for athletes of all ages. Before collecting any personal information from children under 13, we require verifiable parental consent in compliance with COPPA.
Parental Rights: Parents can review, modify, or delete their child’s information at any time by contacting [email protected]. Parents can also refuse further collection of their child’s data.
For Users 13–17: Minors between 13–17 may use the Service with parental permission. We encourage parents to monitor their minor children’s online activities.
8. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
Access & Portability: Request a copy of your personal data in a standard format.

10. International Transfers
Your information may be processed or stored in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. For transfers outside your country:
EU Residents: We use Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
